Salyer is an independent filmmaker who has grown up in parts of Southeast Missouri, Ohio, and the Philippines. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and a Master of Fine Arts in Film. She is a doctoral candidate (ABD), in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma.
